Our daughter, Brooke, was born with life threatening food allergies to milk and some tree nuts. Food for her is dangerous, and something that even at 8 years old, she approaches with trepidation.
Last year, she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes...just to spice things up:) This girl has gone through more trips to doctors, ER's, injections, and caution than a hundred adults combined...and yet she persists with a smile on her face.
One day, I caught her using her finger to draw on the side of our (very dirty) minivan. I saw the picture and was blown away. She said it represents her, because she is broken, but she is still happy.
Cue "Awwwww" right about now.
As not only her father, but a t-shirt designer(or so I am told), I saw this design on a t-shirt immediately. And so Happily Broken™ was born!
Per Brooke's request, a large portion of the proceeds from sales of this item will be donated to the JDRF to help them continue to offer camps, education, and support for children with Type 1.
